My fellow Country Club neighbors, our community is the victim of a hijacking.
We are all passengers on a plane that has been diverted by hostile forces. We have no choice but to hope for a peaceful and safe result. The hijackers have shown no concern for our safety, they are only interested in reaping an enormous ransom.
When we purchased our tickets we were promised by Escondido Airlines that the flight would be secure, that the trip would be safe, that the cost of our ticket provided for proper safety precautions, for reliable scheduling, travel insurance and a pleasant trip.
After we were 10 hours into a 12 hour flight, we were advised that the airline was sold to someone with no experience in the industry, who was unconcerned about normal airline precautions and the safety and comfort of it's passengers. To an entity that has no history of conforming with standard rules and regulations of the airline industry. To an operator who has ignored normal security protocols. We have been advised that the insurance we thought was included in the cost of our tickets is no longer applicable.
Normally it would be possible to mount an insurgence to recapture control of the plane, but since a judge banned personal weapons onboard, we are helpless. We have no weapons, no cell phones, no communications, no support from the authorities, and no idea where we are going….
Escondido Airways has an aircraft full of passengers lost in flight over the Pacific Ocean, and no one is paying attention.
Apparently, we are entirely on our own. The question we need to answer is, just how important is it for us to reassert control of this plane? Are we willing to go down to deny the hijackers their treasure? Or should we close our eyes, offer a prayer, and hope for the best?
Can the attendants help us? Do they want to? Are they victims or co conspirators?
I do not have the answers. But I know one thing, the attendants may be our only hope. Our efforts must start with finding out if we can expect any help from them, to convince them that their future is tied to ours, and we cannot expect a rescue mission.
So let's call all of them to the podium, and demand they declare whose side they are on. Olga, John, Mike, Ed and Sam: Once and for all, it is time to be accountable. No obfuscation, no political group-speak. We have reached critical mass.
For the record, are you all for one or one for all?
